HOW TO STOP CAR RADIATOR LEAK WITH BLACK PEPPER

Home » Automotive Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Tommy Sessions Expert Author | 35 Articles Joined: December 14, 2004 United States Do You Have Any Black Pepper For My Radiator? By Tommy Sessions | Submitted On August 10, 2004 Recommend Article Article Comments 1 Print Article Expert Author Tommy Sessions Awhile back I had a woman traveling through to stop at the shop. Her radiator, the one in her car, had a leak. It was a small leak but she had lost a lot of water, in the car radiator. Now, as I'm not a radiator repair shop, and the nearest one was 20 miles, in the opposite direction, I did what I do to my old 8N Ford tractor radiator. I put a small can of black pepper in it. Yeah, I did! No sugar, salt, or any other ingredients, just black pepper. If the hole in a radiator is not too large, black pepper will stop it up, temporarily, and it's better than egg-white. You can store a can of black pepper in your dash compartment better than you can an egg, and it will last longer. Black pepper will not dissolve, deteriorate, or digest. That's why I don't eat it...plus, it burns my mouth. :-) I say it is a temporary stop leak tool, but I've used in before and the customer drove his vehicle for over a year before he sold it. Go to the grocery store, get one of those 2" cans, brand doesn't matter, and put it in the compartment on the dash, or the console. Just don't use it all up at the drive-in eating places...keep it until you create a leak in your radiator. Tommy Sessions has been in auto repair since 1970. He publishes Auto Repair Answers Newsletter so you can learn how to keep your vehicle looking new, running safely and efficiently, while you save money and time...also, learn how to avoid shop rip offs. HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR OF MARKETING YOURSELF IF YOUR A RACING DRIVER

Home » Recreation and Sports » Auto Racing Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Annamarie Malfitana-Strawhand Basic Author | 3 Articles Joined: April 19, 2012 United States Race Drivers: Overcoming The Fear Of Marketing Yourself By Annamarie Malfitana-Strawhand | Submitted On April 19, 2012 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Annamarie Malfitana-Strawhand Fear. Fear can be a very dysfunctional and damaging thing. I have experienced it many times in my life and my career. Fear of change, fear of the unknown, fear of being made fun of or even ridiculed. Fear of failure. Fear of doing something new on your own. Fear of not doing something right. Fear of rejection. As race drivers, you strap into a very powerful machine going at high speeds against other determined drivers with powerful machines --- and at anytime can crash, flip upside down, catch on fire and possibly get injured. Those that don't understand sometimes think you are crazy, right? But YOU can put that FEAR out of your minds each week and take to the task at hand - why? Because you LOVE to race. It's your passion. You put the fear out of your mind because you are confident in what you do and you are determined to win. When it comes to marketing and promotion, many race drivers tell me that they don't want to do it because they just get turned down and rejected by potential sponsors, so they give up. Or they have hired people to do this for them with little or no results. Or they just don't know how. This leads to the constant struggle financially to keep racing each week. Then your passion can sometimes become stressful and frustrating. I understand where you are coming from! I know what it is like to have a passion for something and you want to keep it going or get to the next step - but you are just stuck - and afraid if you try it and fail you are going to be worse off than before. That is fear. Fear is what keeps us from success in anything we do. With marketing and promoting yourself as a driver to fans and sponsors in an effort to attract funding for your racing - Ask yourself these questions: Who or what is holding you back? Not sure how to get started? Afraid of failing? Don't understand how marketing works? Why can't I just race and sponsors find me? Or is this you: I only like driving and I am not interested in the marketing. Even when I try to promote I really don't get anywhere. I am too busy to market and promote - maybe I can find someone to do it for me. I am too shy and not the outgoing type. I will leave the marketing up to other people. I don't like to look like I am asking for a handout. I don't like promoting myself it makes me look conceited. I am afraid to ask for help because I might look inept. Marketing costs money - I need to put everything I got into my race car. I don't have enough faith in my abilities and nobody is going to want to sponsor me. This is fear talking to you. Working against you. Keeping you from moving forward. You must change your mindset. Just like when you strap into that race car to go for the Victory and you put fear out of your mind - you must do the same with marketing. Approach it in the same way you do your racing. Open your mind to learning - changing, asking for help - integrating yourself into the community and connecting more with fans - you will be surprised at how much starts to come back to you! You cannot do what you fear, and you cannot do what you don't know. You KNOW you need money to race. You KNOW it takes good sponsors and souvenir sales to a large fanbase. But how do you get it? How do you get started and go after it? 1.) Change your mindset - approach marketing like you do when you strap in for a race - keep your eye on victory and don't give up. If you have failure, fix the problem and go for it again. Once you land that first sponsor - you get the same exhilaration you would when you win a race and it will propel you to keep going for more. 2.) Educate yourself. Learn what you can about marketing and promotion, just like building a better shock or a better race car set up, get ahead of the competition, get your marketing edge! 3.) Seek out mentors - look for other drivers who have been successful with their marketing and ask for advice, just like you would from the ones who are running well at a certain track or series. 4.) Step away from the racing toolbox a few days a week and use your marketing toolbox such as the phone, email, social networks, and actual face to face networking. 5.) Dispel the negativity and old ideas about marketing, promotion and gaining sponsorship - approach it with a positive attitude. Delete the old stuff in your brain and start fresh. 6.) Just do it. Jump in with two feet - the cold water will eventually become comfortable! The more you do it the more it becomes part of you, and easier to do if you make it routine. 7.) Be creative. Throw in things that you know you enjoy as part of your marketing. Organize a charity golf game with local business owners, or a hunting trip. For young racers, set up a group trip with kids and parents or kid friendly businesses in your community to go karting or even have a big pizza party at one of your races. For female drivers you could do something with women business owners, like a charity fashion show. 8.) Get more help on your race car so you can open up more time to market and promote yourself and your race team. Find local mechanics or high school students in vocational schools for mechanical or automotive and see if they want to be a volunteer on a race team - give them a crew shirt and pit pass, race tickets for their family. You would be surprised who will be willing to help out just for the experience! 9.) Have some fun with your marketing and you will enjoy doing it! Get your good friends involved and make it part of your social life. You will be surprised how many more friends you will make, fans you will gain and sponsors will start to seek you out if they see that it is an enjoyable experience for their customers to be around you! Before you know it you will enjoy marketing and promotion and you will find it rewarding and fun! 10.) Fear? What fear. Race drivers are fearless. Go for it! You can do it! Some of my favorite quotes about fear: "The only thing to fear is fear itself" - Franklin D. Roosevelt "Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out". - Karl Augustus Menninger "Fear is only as deep as the mind allows". - Japanese Proverb "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do". - Eleanor Roosevelt "Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy". - Dale Carnegie "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic". - Unknown "It's impossible to have Faith and Fear at the same time." - Jackie Pegram (My mentor and Bible study teacher) I had my own fears to face in my PR and Marketing career. When I was new to the NASCAR scene in the early 90's - I found it best to seek out mentors and learn from the best you can find who are willing to help you learn the ropes. This gave me the confidence I needed to do a good job for my drivers, sponsors and team. I am here to tell you that I have overcome many fears. I have been in your shoes. I have consistently conquered my fears so I could keep growing and moving forward into more success. I will not let anything hold me back from my dreams and goals. I have had many try to hold me back, try to push me down. I have also experienced heartbreak, failure, sadness, and rejection many times over the years in my career. I move past them and delete all negativity from my mind. I have learned to change my mindset. I will only look forward towards my goals and not regress back because of a fear or insecurity. My goal is to share my knowledge, life and career lessons, my successes, my experience and passion for marketing with all of you. I am dedicated to helping racers reach their dreams and goals - helping you overcome your fears and finding success with marketing. Your success is my success. Dispel the fear, dispel the old myths, ignore any outer or inner negativity - and let's make it happen! I am with you all the way! HOW TO PREPARE YOUR CAR FOR A RACE

Home » Recreation and Sports » Auto Racing Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Morne Lourens Basic PLUS Author | 63 Articles Joined: December 1, 2010 South Africa How to Prepare Your Car and Wheels for a Race By Morne Lourens | Submitted On November 23, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article You will see that during any races on television the crew changing the tyres quite often. Racing puts a lot of strain on the car and the wheels. Why is that? Speed causes most of the components to heat up quicker than during a normal drive. The pistons have to move faster pushing the crank to move faster. It is important to make sure that the right amount of lubrication is present between these mechanisms. The oil keeps the components moving smoothly. If there is no smooth movement present you are in danger of causing the components to wear out. Anything that is worn away inside the engine has to be completely replaced. Always make sure that there is oil in the engine. It's also important to make sure that the cooling parts are up to standard. If the engine does not cool down it could blow up or melt from the intense heat. Have you never noticed that racers take a couple of laps before the actual race starts? The warming up of the tyres is an important part of racing. The hotter the tyres are during the race the faster the car will go because of the lack of friction present. It's wise to make sure that when you start a race you change those tyres because of the wear they will endure. Wear will unbalance the car slightly making it difficult to handle. Racing wheels don't have a tread or have a very shallow tread with very low side walls. The suspension is low because of the small amount of air that has to surround it to make it aerodynamic. Getting the shocks checked is also important. Remember that with a lower suspension the car will less likely be able to drive over humps because of the lack of absorption of force. Make sure that your wheels have been balanced and aligned. The forces the car goes through during a race are incredibly strenuous. An unbalanced tyre will cause you to lose control of the car. Around extreme turns the wheel and axle will end up failing on you thus causing the car to flip over. Races tend to do ten times the damage a normal drive would do because of speed, heat and forces applied to the wheels. Your tyre and wheel wholesaler will be able to put the correctly fitted tyres and wheels on your car before a race along with the correct balancing and alignment. #CHEVY EQUINOX AND #LAND ROVER FREELANDER

Home » Automotive » Trucks Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Matthew Keegan Platinum Quality Author Platinum Author | 1,214 Articles Joined: April 19, 2005 United States Chevy Equinox and Land Rover Freelander By Matthew Keegan | Submitted On November 15, 2005 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Matthew Keegan The sport utility market continues to expand despite higher than normal gas prices. The reason? Because, these do-almost-everything-vehicles provide just what consumers want. Sure, sales are down right now, but they will recover as more economical vehicles enter the mix. SUVs carry people, haul stuff, pull stuff, can go off-roading [okay, maybe not the Equinox], provide superior handling than many cars, etc. Fortunately, not all are gas guzzlers either. Chevrolet's Equinox and the #Land Rover Freelander are two that come to mind. Let's take a look at these two compact SUVs. Chevrolet Equinox - I like the looks of the Equinox, Chevy's car-based SUV that is only slightly smaller than the mid-size TrailBlazer. By car-based I mean a vehicle that handles and drives more like a car and is actually built on a car platform [like the Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4, for example]. This means that the Equinox is built chiefly for the road, so if you want an off road experience you would need to opt for the TrailBlazer or get the Freelander. Okay, I digress. The Equinox is available as either a front wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle. Seating five passengers, the Equinox comes equipped with a 3.4L V6 that produces 185hp. The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission; no manual transmission is available. A traction control system is standard with the front wheel drive Equinox while all models come equipped with ABS and electric steering. Standard equipment for the Equinox includes power windows, power mirrors, and power locks with Remote Keyless Entry; AM/FM stereo and CD player with six speakers; and air conditioning. The Equinox has received a 5 star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for frontal crash and side-impact crash tests. Starting prices for the Equinox are very competitive with comparable models in its class. Base MSRP for the FWD is just over 22K; 24K for the AWD. Land Rover Freelander - The smallest of all Land Rovers is the Freelander, a compact full time all wheel drive vehicle available as either a 3 or 5 door SUV. Unlike the Equinox, the Freelander has full off road capabilities as do every Land Rover model. The Freelander comes equipped with a Four-wheel Electronic Traction Control system; ABS; a 2.5L Quad Cam V6 engine paired with a 5 speed automatic transmission; an AM/FM stereo/CD system with RDS radio; air conditioning; fog lamps; a perimeter security system; and much more. The Freelander, a five passenger vehicle, sells for a price starting at just over 27K. The Freelander is produced in England while the Equinox is built in Canada, In all, both the Equinox and Freelander represent well built compact SUVs with two different purposes: the Equinox is built primarily for the highway and around town and has the stronger engine, while the Freelander is built for both highway and trail. THE ONLY TUCKER CONVERTIBLE IN THE WORLD

Home » Automotive » Classic Cars Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Justin Cole Basic Author | 2 Articles Joined: July 23, 2016 United States Where to Find The Only Tucker Convertible in the World? By Justin Cole | Submitted On August 04, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Justin Cole Preston Tucker, the man behind the Tucker automobile, was a charismatic rebel who was unfortunately possessed by his creativity and determined to do what many said couldn't be done. His cup of creativity bubbled with activity. As his career unfolded, it became clear his destiny was to shake off his contemporaries and to do what had never been done before. He was David looking for his Goliath. He was fearless and more than a bit of a gambler. Ready to risk his fame and fortune, he jumped head first into an inevitable collision with the establishment. He was determined to capture his dream and build a car that he believed America deserved - a safer, sportier and entirely unconventional sedan with baked-in engineering that his competitors could not match. Early in his career he and a partner worked to help Henry Ford with race car engineering and design. Tucker was the inventor of the Tucker Turret, a powered gun turret that was mounted to military vehicles in the Second World War. The Tucker Turret was an innovation that played a key role in the success of the allied armies. Tucker is most remembered for his attempt to challenge the big three American auto manufacturers by starting his own, ultra innovative car company, the Tucker Corporation. Tucker's goal was to apply his unconventional wisdom and common sense to build a car that excelled in areas such as styling, safety, performance, value, and engineering. If Tucker succeeded it would have taken the "Big Three" several years and hundreds of millions dollars to retrofit their cars in an attempt to compete. And as they did so they would have been relegated to the side of the road as they watched a Tucker drift by, eroding their domination of the American car industry. Tucker accomplished what he set out to do with what he called the Tucker 48. The Tucker 48 sedan was unlike any other car in the world when it was introduced. Some of its most unique features were a "Safety Windshield", a centered swiveling third headlight, a quick swap powertrain setup, and a rear mounted "flat six" aircraft engine that had been updated with water jackets for proper cooling. The Safety Windshield was anti-shard laminated and was designed to be easily removed in the case of an accident. The centered swiveling third headlight was synchronized to the movement of the steering wheel to help the driver see around bends in the road. Even today, synchronized headlights don't appear in any but the most expensive cars and their appearance is a relatively recent addition to what are supposed to be "state of the art" automobiles. The quick swap powertrain (engine and transmission) setup was designed to be easily be swapped within fifteen minutes of arriving at a Tucker service department. This system was developed so that customers could drop off the powertrain at the dealership and leave quickly with a "loaner powertrain." This would allow an owner to avoid waiting, sometimes for days, as their car was repaired, an inconvenience common among conventional cars. Imagine the advantage of such an option if you were on a long distance trip with a car full of kids. Are you having a hard time looking for your dream car? HOW TO CLEAN OIL STAINS FROM CAR INTERIOR

Home » Automotive » Car Detailing Customization Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Lance Winslow Diamond Quality Author Diamond Author | 31,206 Articles Joined: March 23, 2005 United States Cleaning Oil, Grease, Butter, Vegetable Oil, Margarine, Cosmetic Creme Stains From Your Car By Lance Winslow | Submitted On April 01, 2005 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Lance Winslow One of the worst problems in the cleaning of cars is the wide variety of stains that appear on the seats, carpet and interior. We will discuss the ways to clean such tough stains in car interiors as Oil, Grease, Butter, Vegetable Oil, Margarine, Cosmetic Crème Stains. First off the important thing is to use a Neutral soap or Neutral products with a ph of 7. (PH is measured on a scale of 0-14 for acidity or alkalinity) 7 are in the middle meaning neutral. This way none of the products used will form chemical reactions while using them. Mobile Auto Detailing and Mobile Car Washes use a variety of trade secrets to clean such stains effortlessly and efficiently and charge quite a bit to do it. The average cost to detail the interior two front seats of a car is $25.00 plus carpet shampoo of $25.00. Some companies recommend certain brands to their mobile car wash teams. The best types of cleaners for these stains are solvent based and should be used carefully. They can combine and make more of a mess if not used properly. Caution is important and a virtue and this is truer in this scenario than in any other part of auto detailing. First clean up the main mess by scraping excess and getting it down to as small an area as possible. Plastic razor blades work good for this. Then gently dab your solvent cleaner on the stain without ripping and it should start to come up. If you get no discoloration from this you can then wipe gently. When you are all completed try using some foam type upholstery cleaner and wipe. Then perhaps some warm water on a rag to finish the job. "Lance Winslow" - Online Think Tank forum board. HOW TO FIX A TYRE PUNCTURE

Home » Automotive » Repairs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Mohammed Suliman Basic PLUS Author | 50 Articles Joined: December 1, 2010 South Africa How to Repair a Tyre Puncture By Mohammed Suliman | Submitted On September 21, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Everyone has the misfortune of having to deal with a punctured wheel. What's worse is that sometimes the driver might not have a spare to change it and get it repaired at the nearest car service company. Here is how to repair a punctured tyre. Enable the handbrake to avoid the opposite tyre spinning uncontrollably. Keep in mind that you need to have a plugging kit to sort this problem out and you won't need to remove the tyre unless you cannot reach the puncture. Some may find that it's easier to remove the tyre. If you are in a rush to go somewhere then keep the tyre attached to the car. The most important part about repairing punctures is finding the actual hole. This might be the process that will take the longest. You might also have to remove what has been lodged within the rubber before doing anything else. Make sure that you clean the area which has been punctured to avoid any foreign objects entering the inside of the tyre. You need to add lubricant to the puncture using an insertion tool before treading the plugging cord through the puncture. The plugging cord needs to be hanging out of the tyre and cut after the insertion tool has been removed. Inflate your tyre to the correct pressure using a pressure gauge. This will make it easier for you to make sure that there are no leakages or escaping air. It's important to check the tyre for any leaks as you can never be too sure that you have more than one puncture. The last thing you want is to have to deal with the same process again. Once this is done you need to ensure that you drive slowly as the plug may not hold as well as a professional fix. A puncture in the side wall is irreparable as the pressure that will be applied after you continue driving will break it once again. If this does happen you need to have a spare tyre in your car or you will have to call the towing service to get a replacement. It's important to know these skills as situations arise unexpectedly. You also need to always have the correct tools on hand for any conditions that come about. If you are uncertain about the mechanics of your car you need to have the user manual in reach at all times. HOW TO TUNE UP YOUR CAR

Home » Automotive » Repairs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Samantha Jones Basic Author | 4 Articles Joined: December 1, 2016 United Kingdom Basic Car Maintenance: What to Do During a Tune-Up By Samantha Jones | Submitted On December 02, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Some people wind up with a car that seems to run perfectly for five years while other individuals remain discouraged because their car seems to break down every two years, and they wind up buying another one. To go from the second group into the first, it's important to remember that car maintenance is the key to keeping a car running wonderfully for many years to come. One of the most important things is to guarantee that a car receives a regular tune-up. Most people that have their own mechanic or know a few basic things about cars choose to do their own tune-up. Making sure that these things are changed during a tune-up will drastically improve the performance of any car, and help prevent problems down the road. NGK Spark Plugs NGK Spark plugs do not always need replaced, and there are a few ways to check to see if they can go for another 30,000 miles or so. First, if there are no problems because of bad NGK spark plugs, they may not need replaced. To double check, vehicle owners are encouraged to ensure that the gap is what it is supposed to be, and to visually check NGK spark plugs to see if they appear to be worn. Vehicle owners that are not sure as to whether they should replace NGK spark plugs are encouraged to replace them. Getting a new set will not hurt the car, and it may improve the performance of the vehicle. Double Check Safety Options This is the time when everything should be double checked, including but not limited to: windshield wipers, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and the horn. These parts of the car are a necessity to making sure that everyone riding in the car is safe, particularly in dangerous weather. Headlights can determine whether a driver sees another car coming down the road or not, and may prevent a fatal car accident. Brakes The brakes do not automatically need to be replaced, but it is a good idea to take off the tires and give them a quick look while performing maintenance on the car. If the brakes show an excessive amount of wear and tear, and it looks like they may be close to the indicator, it is a good idea to replace them at the time and get it out of the way, although it is not necessary. Oil change Every car needs an oil change some time, and this is the one thing that most people neglect. Instead of getting an oil change every 10,000 miles as recommended, some owners never get an oil change. If this isn't being done on regularly, at the very least vehicle owners are encouraged to get an oil change when they are doing their own tune up. The oil can become gritty and then it will not lubricate the engine properly, resulting in a wealth of damages later on down the road. Fluids All fluids should be checked on weekly, or, at the very least, monthly, but most vehicle owner's ale tend to neglect this important part of maintenance. If this isn't done regularly, it's that much more important that it be done during a tune-up. If there is a problem, it should be fixed along with everything else. Properly maintaining a vehicle is vital to making sure that a vehicle lasts longer than average, and to making sure that everyone in the vehicle remains safe. Simply installing new NGK spark plugs can improve the performance of a vehicle, and making sure that the horn works properly can prevent a car accident, and possible save a person's life. #MERCEDES BENZ TRUCKS

Home » Automotive » Trucks Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Victoria Zhurkowskaya Basic PLUS Author | 13 Articles Joined: July 7, 2016 Belarus Mercedes-Benz Trucks: Tradition and Progress of Trust By Victoria Zhurkowskaya | Submitted On September 13, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Victoria Zhurkowskaya What is the origin of trust? According to dictionaries, it is the belief in honest, fair, and reliable properties that somebody or something has. According to Mercedes-Benz and their slogan "Trucks you can trust", this is the promise that was given more than 100 years ago and has never been broken since then. It all started in 1896, when Gottlieb Daimler, a co-founder of the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, decided the future of goods transport by delivering the world's first truck. The truck was basically a motorized cart, equipped with a 2-cylinder "Phoenix" engine built into the rear end. The engine unit generated 4 hp from a capacity of 1.1 liters and provided the power for 1500 kg of payload. In 1923 another German automobile engineer, Karl Benz, designed a 4-cylinder diesel truck engine. His company, Benz & Cie, was the first to launch series production of diesel motors for commercial vehicles. Soon after in 1926 Daimler and Benz merged their companies to produce automobiles, motor vehicles and internal combustion engines. All the machines, including trucks, started to bear the Mercedes-Benz name and carry the 3-pointed star emblem. Meanwhile, all the diesel engines that were working on low-grade fuel, achieved the "OM" index, which stands for "olmotor", meaning oil engine. The production rates experienced a gradual rise in the post-war era. Initially, the brand offered an impressive lineup of the L- and N-series trucks. Then, in 1970s the cab-over-engine versions replaced the conventional ones, when Mercedes-Benz introduced its NG (New Generation) truck range. After a decade it was succeeded by the new SK (heavy-duty) models. Since the mid 90s the company has started to give special names to all of its vehicle series. The popular Actros The top-selling long-distance segment is now represented by the Actros trucks. The new generation model range excites with the variants of vehicle configurations and cab versions, as well as diversified options of driveline and productive safety features. All in all, it provides a cost-effective approach for more tailored solutions. Offering every possible comfort inside the cab the manufacturer is guided by the driver's satisfaction rather than by luxury. The prime concern is that a more relaxed driver is a safer driver. The Actros is available with a choice of 4 engine displacements and 16 power ratings that produce from 238 hp to 625 hp. As promised by the brand, each engine unit is designed to deliver maximums of fuel efficiency, torque and driveability and minimums of noise and emissions. Apart from saving on fuel, the engines are empowered to reduce AdBlue consumption and total maintenance costs. The technology that backs up the performance of the Actros truck includes 4 groups of systems: Braking, Assistant, Safety and Economy. The company's promise of unsurpassed reliability results in long-life operation, testified by dealers and customers who entrust their business to Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks. It's common knowledge that this is one of the leading offers in the range of heavy-duty trucks on second-hand markets. The productive Antos Heavy-duty distribution is the task area for the Antos trucks. This offer is developed specifically for delivery work from 18 t upwards. The range of applications covers grocery transportation, tanker or dry-bulk haulage, as well as retail supply services. In addition to all the efficiency- and safety-boosting features from the Actros lineup, the distribution model variants are equipped according to payload-sensitive and volume-oriented haulage requirements. The efficient Atego The Atego truck models represent the light and medium duty solutions for distribution and construction applications. Its payload variations range from 6.5 t to 16 t. The Atego engine offering comprises 2 engine displacements and 7 power ratings, generating from 156 hp to 299 hp. The profit in both distribution and construction spheres particularly depend on operational efficiency. For this reason, all the trucks in the line feature a single entry step, providing easy entrance. Moreover, urban and inter-urban distribution can benefit from simplified cross cab access via special displacement of the manual gearshift (on the dashboard). With regard to construction operations, the efficiency is enlarged with crew cab options and all wheel drive models. The robust Arocs But when it comes to really tough construction work, then #Mercedes-Benz offers to trust its special vehicles in the Arocs model range. To ensure the hardest tasks, the designers created a fully galvanised cab, reinforced further with the flexible high strength frame. Besides, the creators claim that this is done without compromising on economy, as they managed to combine high payloads and outstanding reliability with the lowest running costs possible. The flexible Econic Whether used for inner city distribution and airside duties or in tight rural locations, as a refuse collection or as a fire appliance, the Econic truck presents outstanding manoeuvrability and visibility. The low entry cab serves for fast, efficient and safe entry/exit to facilitate labour-intensive operations, while the panoramic windows guarantee unrivalled visibility to the front and sides. There are 2 diesel power units available (with the output of 299 hp or 354 hp), responsible for clean operation. Generally speaking, all the Mercedes-Benz's models prove the company's slogan concerning trust and the slogan in turn penetrates all the company's projects. BUY A CAR AT POLICE AUCTIONS

Home » Automotive » Buying Selling Auctions Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Albert Lee Expert Author | 459 Articles Joined: July 22, 2005 Hong Kong 5 Tips To Buy A Seized Car Through Police Auto Auctions By Albert Lee | Submitted On November 27, 2006 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Most kids dream of becoming a cop, being able to ride the police car and engage in some heroic deed and save the day of another person. It sounds just perfect for a dream. To some who eventually became cops, the possibility is present. To those who did not make it, dreaming is still an option or at the least, they can purchase a car from the police auctions. Police Auto Auctions Ordinarily speaking, one cannot really purchase police cars and cause misrepresentation to the public. However, through the public or government auto auctions, police cars and other cars that have figured in police encounters or seizures can be sold for use by purchasers. Through the police auto auctions, cars that are seized by the government can be purchased by the highest bidder. This way any properties that are previously deemed illegal for use can now be properly released to willing buyers for a legitimate utility. It is also one way of buying cars at very reasonable, if not completely cheap prices. The automobiles showcased on police auctions can range from the ordinary car foreclosed or to a luxurious BMW or Mercedes seized by the government away from criminal or fraudulent transactions. There are also government vehicle like those used for transportation services or the retired police automobiles that are up for sale at very low prices. The good thing about the government vehicles is that one can expect these to be well-maintained considering they have been used for service. Helpful Tips in Making the Wise Purchase at Police Auto Auctions 1. Know the Date of the Auction Public auctions are given by the police departments at certain days of the year. Know which day it is scheduled in your locality by inquiring at the police department or checking the listings for announcement. Some details that you will need can also be checked out on the internet. There are certain web sites that provide the information. Check out if there is one that features your locality. 2. Research Ahead regarding the Car Those who wish to purchase automobiles must research on the specifications that they need from a car and what types of autos should be focused on during the auction. This way, one can determine what price is reasonable enough to pay for. 3. Research Ahead regarding the Public Auction If there are any announcements as to the public auctions, inquire ahead if there are cars up for bidding. Police auctions involve stuff seized by the government because of crimes committed by other people, most of the time. Unless it is labeled as police auto auctions, there is no certainty that the public auction will necessarily include cars. 4. Prepare Enough Money Unlike regular auctions, police auto auctions require that goods sold are purchased right away. Even checks, as a general rule, may not be accepted unless the department makes exceptions after proper processing. 5. No Warranties Consider also the element that the purchase you made will not include a warranty for the vehicle. The car you bought cannot be simply returned if it did not meet your expectations. It is also difficult to get reimbursements. Conclusion People need cars to easily and efficiently go about their daily lives. Not having enough money is not anymore an obstacle. Simply maximize events such as police auto auctions and you can get more worth for less money. HOW TO CLEAN A CAR BATTERY

Home » Automotive » Car Detailing Customization Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Michael Walker Expert Author | 38 Articles Joined: April 8, 2005 United States Your Car Battery: How to Clean It By Michael Walker | Submitted On June 27, 2005 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Did you ever go to jumpstart your car, and notice that you can barely see your battery underneath all the gunk? This 'gunk' is actually battery corrosion, which is formed by acid condensation. Since this is formed by acid, a basic chemical solution will do the cleaning trick. Battery acid is actually very easy to clean away with a common household item- baking soda! But still, precautions must be followed. This article will inform you step by step how to clean the battery while keeping safe. First, you will need to gather supplies for this project. Most of these items you may already have in your home. Safety glasses or goggles Box of baking soda Adjustable pliers with insulated handles Screwdrivers with insulated handles A small, stiff-bristled brush (an old toothbrush will work just fine!) Assorted small open-end and box wrenches Small metal or plastic scraper Special battery tools, including a cable puller and cable terminal cleaning brushes A turkey baster or small funnel All-purpose household cleaner in a spray bottle Sponges or clean cloths A source of ample clean water such as a garden hose or a large bucket and sponge Rubber gloves for protecting your hands There are a few safety tips to keep in mind when getting ready to clean the battery. First of all, you safety glasses and gloves must be worn to protect your eyes and skin from sulfuric acid that can linger in the corrosion deposits. Also, this material can eat away at your car's paint, so keep it away from that as well. Because the amount of dirt and corrosion on batteries may differ from one another, battery cleaning will vary, so some of the steps below may or may not need to be performed. Sometimes, to thoroughly remove severe corrosion and dirt, you may even need to remove the battery from the vehicle. First, scrape off any white or greenish corrosion deposits with the stiff-bristled brush or small metal or plastic scraper. Next, use the solution of baking soda mixed with water, approximately one heaping tablespoon to each pint of water. Carefully apply it to the outside of the battery and its cable connections with the turkey baster or small funnel. Then, you can use your brush to work the baking soda solution into the heavily corroded areas. If you find that the cable clamps or terminals are badly corroded at the battery, you can disconnect them for easier cleaning. For this, you may need to use pliers, assorted wrenches and a small battery cable puller to disconnect them. You should disconnect the negative first, followed by the positive. Then, use your battery cable scrapers or brush to remove the corrosion from the terminals, battery posts and hold down clamps and brackets. Flush these parts with your baking soda solution to rid them of any trace of corrosion. After this, wash the outside of the battery, the cable ends and the hold down parts with a liquid cleaner in a spray bottle. After that, use a sponge or rag to get off any remaining dirt or grease. After everything is clean, dry off the battery and all its parts with a dry rag or cloth. The final step is just reinstalling any part that was removed and tightening everything so it is secure. Reconnect the battery, positive cable first. You're done! You're battery is now safe and clean. WHAT DO DO IF YOUR CARS OVERHEATING

Home » Automotive » Repairs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Addison C Johnson Basic Author | 7 Articles Joined: June 8, 2015 India What To Do When You Find Your Car Is Overheated By Addison C Johnson | Submitted On November 02, 2015 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Addison C Johnson Most often, cars may overheat due to the extremely hot weather. Though, it's uncommon with the current vehicles, it can't be neglected as overheating can happen to the most well maintained vehicle. If you ever find you're trapped in a stop and go traffic or maybe while climbing a steep grade on an awfully hot day, and your car's dashboard temperature indicator begins to increase or a malfunction indicator light comes on, follow the below steps to assist your vehicle in recovering its cool. When you notice that your car is overheating, immediately turn off your air conditioner and open the windows. This will reduce the load on the engine and help to cool down. If you still find your car's engine is overheating, switch on the heater and blower - This will shift the engine's heat to the area where the passengers are seated in the vehicle. If you're halted in the traffic and the temperature gauge is intensifying, shift into "neutral" or park and rev the engine slightly - This will allow the water pump and the fan to speed up, which pulls more liquid and air via the radiator. The raised air and liquid flow aids to cool down things. In stop and go traffic, move at a slow phase, just a little more than inactive state instead of getting ahead and then braking frequently. Constantly using brake raises the load on the engine and makes it heat up. When the traffic is crowded, move ahead only when there is sufficient space between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In case you sense your vehicle is about to boil over, drive your vehicle to the right-hand side of the road, then after open the hood, and sit there till the time things cool down. Bear in mind that you should never open the radiator cap under these conditions and if your engine has boiled over, don't add water till the engine is relatively cool. However, if you need to add water when the engine is still somewhat warm, ensure you park the vehicle and add the water slowly. Though the hot weather is the most expected cause of overheating, a lot of other elements can cause the same problem. In case your vehicle overheats in traffic in normal weather, one of the below mentioned may be the reasons: There is a low level of water and coolant in the radiator. In the cooling system, probably there is a leak. If you aren't able to detect any leaks, your thermostat may be faulty. Evidently, it is not possible to change the thermostat at the roadside. Meanwhile, if you can park and get to the thermostat securely, as an option you can remove this faulty thermostat if it's possible. Just wait till the engine fully cools off and then remove the old thermostat and connect again the hoses without it. If the engine gets started and moves well without the thermostat, the old one was making problems for the car to function properly. As soon as possible, get a new thermostat once you found out that the old one is not working properly. It is not at all recommended to drive long distances without a thermostat as it can damage your vehicle's engine. The only way it could is if as mentioned above, there is a seal failure or a vehicle accident. Other failures can be from manufacturers defects or even a bad installation. Low mileage, unbalanced tires and bad shocks are also contributors but not as common. Vehicle bearings are not parts that wear down like tires and brakes do. The majority of them will last the entire lifetime of the car without needing to be replaced. If one fails and the mechanic says both need replaced, find another mechanic. This is just not true! Steer clear of any mechanic that tries to sell a client on this repair. Have the Right Tools to DIY Anyone that plans on doing the work themselves when it comes to replacement should know it's not hard but it does take some time. Making sure the right tools are available is a smart move. To change it one will need: A 12-ton Hydraulic Press Chilton's Manual or similar Damaging the hub and bearing is easily avoided with these tools, don't chance the repair otherwise or it may end up costing more in the long run in time and money. There are many user friendly tools available that carry all the necessary accessories and there will be no extra assembly involved. If a press is necessary, disassembly may be needed to remove the wheel wheel bearing, and one must be super careful not to damage the ABS sensor (Anti-lock Braking System). When employing a hub tamer there's no need to remove the complete knuckle assembly so the work is minimal and having complications is less likely. Some prefer to use special snap-ring pliers to deal with the snap ring holding on the bearing, as it can be difficult. Nervous About Noises? Figuring out the cause a wheel bearing noise is no simple task. Most believe it's tire issues, but aren't privy to the fact it is the bearings. If they are aware of this, then the problem comes in determining which one has failed. This could even be why some replace both, because they are unsure which it is. Anyone who has a wheel that's making noise and they are having difficulty figuring out which one is making it will thankfully discover that there are certainly ways to figure out which is the culprit. They can also trust the professionals to determine which it is, or when it doubt replace both. A great deal of money can be saved when one does it themselves. The important thing is to take the vehicle in or diagnose it right away. Don't chance being involved in an accident when bearings fail and vehicle tires seize. Pay attention to the crucial role of wheel bearings and keep every vehicle safe on the road for the driver and others. BRAKE SHOE GUIDE TYPES

Home » Automotive » Repairs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Long Chad Basic Author | 4 Articles Joined: October 24, 2016 Canada Your Own Guide to Brake Shoes Replacement For a Vehicle By Long Chad | Submitted On January 19, 2017 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Long Chad Brakes are among the most important safety tools for any vehicle. Most people only look into how fast a vehicle can go, but it is equally important to consider how quickly and effectively a vehicle can be brought to a complete stop. A good set of brakes on a vehicle can draw a line between life and death in dire cases. This is why it is important to keep a look out for the wearing of your brakes and invest in good spares when opting for a brake shoes replacement at timely intervals. Here is a guide to help you understand the importance of choosing the right kinds of suit your vehicle and ensure that the vehicle has optimal stopping power at all times. Drum vs. Disc Disc brakes and drum brakes are the two most commonly used braking systems in modern vehicles. A disc brake has two disc pads on either sides of a brake rotor. When the brakes are applied, a caliper action forces these discs to squeeze against the rotor, which in turn slows down the wheel, eventually stopping it. These are usually found in the front wheels of modern vehicles. The drum brakes, however, have a set of brake shoes that are set up on the inside of a brake rotor. When brakes are applied, these are expand and push against the wall of the rotor in order to bring the vehicle to a complete halt. Drums are part of an older technology and are traditionally used in the rear wheels vehicles. In both cases, the braking mechanisms use friction to stop the vehicle. Thus, brake shoes replacement should be done on a regular basis as the wear down, or at regular intervals as recommended by the manufacturer. This is in order to ensure that your vehicle has optimal braking power at all times. Disc brakes are considered to be safer and more efficient than their drum counter parts because discs can dissipate heat much more efficiently when compared to drum brakes. Discs are also generally more consistent in their operation. These properties make discs one of the most desired braking systems for vehicle manufacturers. However, disc brakes are costlier than drum brakes, owing to their complexity in manufacture, thus vehicle manufacturers still rely on drum brakes to do 50% of the braking in most vehicles. Types of brake shoes Car brake shoes are of four types, and the classification is based purely on their compositional materials. They are- Semi Metallic Brake shoes: Like the name suggests, these types of made of a combination of metallic and organic materials in the ratio of 30:70. These are highly durable, and are among the most commonly used brake shoes. However, they do wear out the rotors faster than their counterparts under extreme braking conditions since the material does not dissipate heat efficiently. Non Asbestos Organic brake pads: Commonly known as NAO, these are made of organic materials like glass, rubber, fiber or even Kevlar. They are quite soft and do not make as much noise as the metallic brake shoes. However, they do wear out quickly even under nominal conditions and tend to create a lot of brake dust. Low Metallic NAO: These are Organic that are infused with trace amounts of metal such as copper or steel in order to improve braking efficiency and heat dissipation. However, the addition of metal also increases the generation of brake dust and noise when braking. Ceramic Brake shoes: Ceramic are high end products that are made of ceramic fibers infused in filler materials. These are extremely quiet and produce virtually no dust when compared to the metallic and NAO type. They do not wear out the rotors as fast as others do. However, they are quite expensive and are used primarily on higher end vehicles. Choosing the type of vehicle you drive and what you can afford. Generally, smaller or slower road cars can use semi metallic shoes with no adverse consequences. However, if you need to replace brake shoes of bigger vehicles such as trucks and SUVs, or faster cars, you might have to invest in more expensive low metallic or ceramic. How to choose the right brake shoes One of the first things to consider when choosing brake shoes is your driving requirements and the type of vehicle you drive. This includes the most common types of terrain you will be driving on, the ambient temperature of where you live, how much traffic you encounter on a regular basis and the quality of the roads. Next, you will have to think about the type of brake you will buy. For regular city traffic a semi metallic should do just fine. However, if you find the need for better/ stronger braking capabilities you will have to invest in ceramic type. If you are unsure of the kind of brake shoes your vehicle needs, you can look into the manufacturer's specification to find an appropriate set. Once you have decided on the type of brake shoes replacement you need. You will then have to choose from the numerous brands that are available in the markets. This can be a harrowing process, considering the number of options you have at your disposal. This is why it is necessary to do optimal research before buying brake shoes. In most cases, it is recommended that your replace the existing with the same make and model that the car manufacturer had installed. If you know a trusted mechanic, you can take his help in determining the right brake shoes for your vehicle. With a professional by your side, you will be able to find and install the right kind of brake shoes to suit your driving style and vehicle. HOW DIESAL INJECTORS WORK

Home » Automotive Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Monalisa Biswas Basic PLUS Author | 13 Articles Joined: May 1, 2016 India Diesel Injectors - How They Work? By Monalisa Biswas | Submitted On May 15, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Monalisa Biswas Diesel Injectors are used for filling diesel fuel into a diesel engine or compression ignition engine. This fuel is directly injected into the engine with the help of Injectors attached to the cylinders of a diesel machine. This fuel injecting system basically consists of the following parts - Fuel injection apparatus (nozzle and nozzle holder), fuel supply line, Air-intake valve, and diesel engine exhaust valve. The function of the parts of diesel injectors is as follows: An apparatus for fuel injection: Each cylinder of a compression ignition engine is connected to a fuel injector and therefore each cylinder has its own diesel supply line which carries the diesel from the diesel tank to the diesel engine. The fuel injector consists of a nozzle and a nozzle holder. 1. Diesel supply line: Each cylinder of a diesel engine has its own diesel supply line which carries the diesel from the diesel tank to the CI engine. 2. An intake valve: The role of an intake valve is to suck air into the combustion chamber. The air blends with the condensed diesel thus strengthening the combustion. 3. Diesel engine exhaust valve: It plays the important role of eliminating the emissions produced by the diesel combustion chamber. Once the fuel comes in contact with the injectors, it becomes extremely pressurized. This pressure is created by a little pump that the injector is connected to. This little pump enables air to pass through the injector, consequently pressurizing the fuel. The highly pressurized fuel enters and flows down to the body of the nozzle holder and finally into the nozzle passage. A diesel injector has a needle valve that is closely connected to the spring located in the body of the injector. The compression nut stresses the spring to produce spring pressure and injector opening pressure simultaneously. Once the needle valve opens, the fuel is sprayed by the diesel injector through the tiny nozzle situated in the combustion chamber of an engine cylinder. The cluster of little holes in the nozzle ensures its equal distribution into the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The tiny holes are specially designed and arranged to break the fuel into tiny drops so that they can burn readily. Next, the air intake valves carry air into the combustion chamber and gets combined with condensed diesel thus intensifying the combustion. Now the fuel engine exhaust valve gets rid of the emissions generated by the fuel combustion chamber. The return diesel line gets rid of the surplus diesel fuel by bringing it back to the fuel tank from the fuel combustion chamber. This is how a complex diesel injector functions. Diesel injectors are known as the most intricate elements of a diesel engine. It has the ability to endure high pressure and temperature produced inside the cylinder and circulates equal quantity of fuel to the cylinder thereby ensuring smooth functioning of a powerful diesel engine. AVOID EXTRA COSTS AT THE END OF A CAR LEASE

Home » Automotive Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Search Audrey Solon Basic Author | 8 Articles Joined: September 11, 2016 Philippines How to Avoid Extra Cost At the End of Your Lease By Audrey Solon | Submitted On December 04, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Audrey Solon There are many extra expenses that comes in leasing a vehicle. Even after the end of the lease, there are still extra costs for you to shoulder. An example would be $250 to dispose of your vehicle, $1000 for extra miles you put on the clock and $200 to replace the light bulb and the worn tires-lease agents constantly nickel-and-dime consumers when their lease runs out. Here's a rundown of what can trigger those fees, and some steps to take in self-defense. Disposition fee: leasing companies charge you if you choose not to buy the vehicle at the end of your lease. This fee is set as compensation for the expenses of selling, or otherwise disposing of the vehicle. It typically includes administrative charges; the dealer's cost to prepare the car for resale and any other penalties. Make sure this fee is stated clearly in the contract and is agreeable by you before signing on the dotted line. At lease-end, you are left in no position to negotiate as the dealer can apply refundable security deposit towards this fee. Excess mileage charges: Almost all leasing companies will charge a premium for each mile over the agreed upon mileage stated in your contract. This penalty can be as high as 25 cents per mile and can add up quickly. To avoid the risk of running thousands of dollars in excess mileage penalties at the end of your lease, always check the "per mile" charges in your contract and be realistic about your mileage before you sign any contract. If you think the limit is unrealistic given your commutation needs, then negotiate with the dealer to get a higher mileage or contract for additional miles. Excess tear-and-wear charges: Another potential cost at the end of the lease is any incidental damage done to the car during the lease. This is deemed any excessive damage done to the normal tear and wear of the vehicle. Notice the use of the terms "deemed", "excessive" and "normal". There is no standard formula to define what's "excessive" and "normal" and it's up to the leasing company to assess - or deem - the damage and determine what they are going to charge. This leaves you at the mercy of unscrupulous leasing agents who set stringent tear-and-wear standards. Make sure you read the description of these standards, understand them and agree to them. If your leased vehicle is damaged prior to the end of the lease, you may find it cheaper to repair the damage yourself than pay the excessive charges of the leasing agent. In the event of a dispute over the charges at the end of your lease, get an independent third party to do a professional appraisal detailing the amount required to repair any damaged parts or the amount by which tear-and-wear reduces the value of the vehicle. Lease Xpress is an Australian company that does not only provides you with novated leasing services but also educates you on how to get the best leasing options for you or your company.
