The injector consists mainly of the nozzle and nozzle holder. The main components of fuel injector are as follows: 1. Rod type filter 2. Cap nut 3. Compressing spring 4. Compression pin 5. Cap nut for fixed nozzle 6. Nozzle holder 7. Connect hole for fuel delivery 8. Nozzle holder 9. Connect tube for overflow 10. Shim 11. Pin 12. Nozzle bush There is no doubt that the nozzle burning will definitely influence the normal operation of the machine. If you find the related causes, you can quickly solve the problems. 1. Long time idling operation Due to the diesel engine keeps running slowly for a long time, the temperature in the cylinder is low, the fuel combustion is not sufficient, the combustion chamber and fuel injection nozzle are easy to form carbon deposition. So it leads to the deterioration of working conditions for fuel injection nozzle. Especially in winter, it is even more serious under the condition of cold climate. Because the combustion chamber has carbon deposition, heat dissipation is slow, which may cause spray orifice obstruction of the injection nozzle and the oil drip phenomenon may happen. The fuel stays in the nozzle head for a long time, the local high temperature will make the nozzle and thermal insulation jacket burned. 2. The fuel is not clean Due to there are small particles of impurities in the fuel, the needle valve and needle valve body of the fuel injector will wear. It is possible that the needle valve will be stuck in the needle valve body.Because of needle valve lag, the fuel can't be periodically, quantitatively and quickly sprayed into the combustion chamber, the oil drip phenomenon will appear, which may cause the fuel atomization is not good and the combustion speed is reduced. Due to the burning time of the nozzle is extended, which will make the nozzle and the thermal insulation jacket burned. When such fault occurs, there will be black smoke and chattering phenomenon. 3. Fuel injection time is too late The fuel injection advance angle is too small which may lead to a late fuel injection time. If it can't be adjusted for a long time, the local high temperature will make the nozzle and thermal insulation jacket burned. 4. Improper assembly If the nozzle insulation sheath is installed without cleaning, there will be a gap between the fuel injection nozzle and the insulation sheath. The gas enters into the gap, the heat insulation and cooling effect is reduced, which will cause the fuel injection nozzle and the insulation sheath burned. If the thermal insulation sheath is too tight, the nozzle will generate additional stress. Under the combined action of heat alternating load and high pressure of fuel injection, the nozzle will be broken and the needle valve will be stuck. In addition, if the insulation sheath can't get installed during maintenance, the nozzle extends into the combustion chamber more than 4mm above the cylinder head bottom, the heat absorbed by the injection nozzle will increase, which make the nozzle melted. 5. Improper use of the genset If it lacks of coolant liquid while the unit is at work, the combustion chamber can't be in good state of cooling, which will lead to the high temperature. This is also an important reason to cause the burning of fuel injection nozzle. Prevention As mentioned above, the fuel injection nozzle is one of the important equipment of diesel genset. Considering repainting your own car rather than getting professional help can not only be an exhilarating experience but also save a lot of money, which in itself can be a huge motivating factor. Spray painting the car is however not as easy as it may seem especially for a first-timer, but is certainly not impossible armed with the right materials and attitude. Getting the job done easily and quickly involves having the right accessories in hand and following some simple pieces of advice. And of course, choosing to be a little adventurous is an option for the individual to exercise. The basic supplies required for spray painting are: • Spray paint cans in the choice of color chosen • Spray gun • Spray rust killer and primer • Fluorescent paint (if adventurous!) • Newspaper • Masking tape • Sanding paper • Car was • Goggles The number of steps involved in spray painting a car can be as simple as four or five to about ten. But the sequencing remains the same. Preparing the car The car needs a thorough wash of the exterior surface with water and mild soap and complete drying. Spray painting - first coat After covering windows, frames, bumpers, wheel rims with newspaper and tape to seal off the area not being painted first, use the spray paint gun and position yourself about 10 inches to a foot away from the car surface. An even and regular spraying motion allows the coat to spread evenly and build up a nice and smooth surface. Now the paint has to be left to dry completely. Adding a second coat Professionals advise a second paint layer to give the car a completely new look. But getting that look depends entirely on allowing the first coat to dry completely before the second coat of paint goes up. A quick rub through with car wax gives a shiny and smooth feel to the car. Some useful tips to keep in mind while spray painting include: • Ensuring that the weather is perfect - humidity levels should be 50% or lesser and ideal temperature ranges between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. • Cloudy and windy days are not ideal for painting; wet weather does not allow paint to spread evenly and dry and gusts of wind can deposit dust, grime and lint on wet paint. A piston glides along a cylinder, pushing and pulling. The piston pulls down air and gas in the intake stroke and fills the cylinder with the fuel for the fire. The cylinder is primed and the air-gas mixture is ready for compression. Compression creates massive potential energy. The piston glides back up the cylinder, pushing the air-gas mixture hard and fast into a tiny space---compressing it down to 1/10 (or greater) of its original size (a compression ratio of 10:1). The gases are compressed during the compression stroke, smashing the molecules closer together and increasing the potential energy. Then comes the crescendo. Spark. Ignite. Explosion. When the gases have been compressed and the piston is at top dead center (TDC), a spark flashes and sets the highly energized compressed gases on fire. Boom! The power stroke---the tiny explosion that propels all combustion engines. The explosion pushes the piston back down and the crankshaft spins in unison. The energy moves the crankshaft and creates the power under the pedal. Finally, the piston glides back up the cylinder to eject the exhaust---the exhaust stroke---and clears the way for the process to start over. And over. Hundreds of times per second. Your car's engine sounds pretty smooth, but slow it down and it sounds like artillery fire---individual booms. An 8 cylinder car idling at 750 RPMs "fires" 50 times per second. That's 50 power strokes each second while idling! The basic process of the four-stroke engine is the same as it was in 1876 when Nikolaus Otto invented it. The only differences between an engine that powers the 2017 CTS-V with 640 horsepower (HP) and the 3 HP engine created in 1876: efficiency and capacity. It boils down to compressing air and gas into a tiny space, lighting it on fire and transferring that energy into mechanical motion. That's all it takes to move the family minivan or James Bond's Aston Martin. The Four Basic Strokes: A Closer Look The entire process only takes four strokes of the piston. Intake Stroke Compression Stroke Power Stroke (Combustion Stroke) Exhaust Stroke Intake Stroke As the piston moves down on its first stroke, the intake valve opens and allows the combustion chamber to fill with air and fuel. This creates a space ready to explode even without compression. But add compression and you create a lot of potential energy. It's possible to add more fuel and more air during the intake stroke to create a more powerful mixture to increase horsepower but be sure to check your tuning if you do add performance parts. Compression Stroke When the intake stroke ends at the bottom of the cylinder, the compression stroke begins. The piston moves up and forces the air and gas into a tiny space. A 10:1 compression ratio will compress the air-gas mixture down to 1/10 the size of the compression chamber. The higher the compression ratio the more potential energy which means more power for your pedal. Compress for power. Note that higher compression ratios require higher octane fuels. Power Stroke (Combustion Stroke) The power stroke starts when the compression stroke hits top dead center (TDC) (or before top dead center, BTDC) and a perfectly timed spark ignites the gases. This moment is what the engine is all about. Getting the right gases (air-fuel ratio) ignited at the right time with as much energy as possible. The size of the chamber, the compression ratio, the spark, the timing---everything is to maximize the energy of the explosion and then transfer it to mechanical motion. The power stroke thrusts the piston downward propelled by the explosion leading to the fourth stroke. Exhaust Stroke On the piston's second upward stroke, the exhaust valve opens and the piston pushes the burnt gases up and out of the exhaust valves. When your exhaust system is maximized, the pressure the piston encounters on its way up is minimal and the valve moves with less restriction which can give you power gains. Also, with a high performing exhaust system, the exhaust stroke is more likely to push all the burnt gases out of the chamber clearing the way for a clean intake stroke and a stronger power stroke. The cycle is complete and the piston and chamber are ready to begin again. So What? If you know how your engine produces power, harnesses that power, works more efficiently at keeping that power, then you'll know how to make your engine perform its best. You can make cost-effective decisions on which modifications will give you the most horsepower return. To help with engine performance, you might consider an engine tune, a cold air intake, a performance exhaust, a performance intake manifold or even a supercharger. Now that you know more about the four-stroke process, you will be able to determine how each modification affects each stroke. Unfortunately, the best cars also gain problems over time and it should be taken seriously. Gear Issues are problems that are associated with the gearbox. Sometimes your car will leak fluid from the transmission. This might be one of the serious problems because if it doesn't get sorted out you could have a problem shifting gears. Irregular shifting could destroy the gearbox because the incorrect gear could be engaged during the wrong speed. For example, if you are driving fast on a highway and your car changes to the first gear, you could break the teeth because it cannot handle that speed. The first gear is always bigger in diameter because of the force required to do the initial movement. The transmission can also experience oil leakage. This fluid looks red. It comes from the filler tube base that is located between the engine and transmission, the drain hole, the selector shaft, or the radiator. No oil leakage is good as it means that there is a hole somewhere allowing air to move into the car. Oil is also the source of lubrication inside the engine and keeps the mechanisms cool. The filter could get clogged at any time. The filter inside the car keeps the oil clean keeping any dust or particles out of the engine. Oil supplies the car with lubrication so that there is no friction. Friction is what causes overheating and worn out parts. If you are experiencing delayed shifting and oil leaking it is likely that the filter has been clogged. This filter also keeps the dust away from the gearbox whilst it shifts. If you experience delayed shifting it could mean that there is something blocking the system from making smooth motions. Shifting gears incorrectly can be easily felt. It often sounds like the engine is groaning if it has gone up one gear too many. This will lead to a slow pulling motion which will not allow the car to move faster until it regains its speed again. Automatic cars are tougher to fix when it comes to gearbox problems because these cars don't have a manual clutch. However, this doesn't mean that it is impossible but never repair your car on your own if you are not sure what to do. This gas works well with passenger cars because they are lighter in weight. Nitrogen inflation is the process of replacing regular compressed air with this gas. There are two different techniques of tyre inflation that can both be beneficial to different types of cars. Nitrogen inflation allows the tyres to lose air at a slower rate. This is possible because the molecules are smaller than regular oxygen which means it's harder for the gasses to escape smaller gaps in the tyres. One of the advantages of replacing regular compressed air, which is concentrated oxygen, with concentrated nitrogen is that it won't cause resistance allowing you to use less fuel overall. This is beneficial since the fuel economy is at its worse and the less fuel we use on a daily basis the better it will be on our pockets. Nitrogen doesn't change temperature much when the car is in motion. High temperatures can damage the tread of the tyres plus it can cause wear and damage. The quality of the tyre endures also because the pressure within it doesn't drop rapidly causing wear on the edges of the tyre. With this relatively new inflation technique, the tyre and the tread have better grip. The improved grip comes from the strong resistance to pressure leaving the extruding parts to remain "popped out". The weight of the car plus the motion when driving applies high force on the tyre which leads to deflation. Nitrogen Inflation is perfect for all weather conditions because of its ability to retain tyre pressure in any temperature. Nitrogen also has less humidity and is less prone to create water inside the tyre. Water and moisture inside the rubber could cause terrible rotting leaving you with a destroyed element that will need to be replaced. Because nitrogen has less moisture in its composition, it is lighter than normal air. Many racers would choose to have their tyres filled with nitrogen gas because of how light and efficient it will make the racing process. There will be less friction on the track and less wear on unnecessary parts of the rubber. When choosing different accessories and installations for your car, it is wise to consider those items that will lead you to spend less money in the long run. This means that you need to find parts and components that will allow the car to use less fuel. Our cars were never rustproofed when new and even though we tend to Waxoyl them ourselves this can never be done completely and always leaves untreated bodywork which is subject to the dreaded tin worm. We take them all off the road over the winter and work through our list of improvements and put them all through our garage for their main annual service. Putting them away for the winter isn't just a matter of driving them into the garage and we do, and recommend that classic car owners do, as much of the following as is practicable. Clean and polish the whole car properly, including the underside of the bonnet and boot lids and as much of the engine bay as is reachable. Empty the boot and clean and polish the inside of the boot and the boot floor. While you have the spare wheel out make sure it is clean and check the tyre pressure. As tyres can lose a bit of pressure over time when stored, pump it up to a few PSI more than is needed. Hose down the underside of the car and dry it off as best as you can - if necessary taking it for a short drive to dry it off - as long as there is no salt on the roads of course. Check the carpet to see if they are at all damp - most classics tend to leak to some extent. If possible lift the carpets and any soundproofing or underlay and check the floor isn't wet. If it is, remove the carpets and dry and polish the floor. Hang the carpets and underlay up in the garage to dry, or store them in the airing cupboard if you are allowed to. If you have over mats in the footwells it is a good idea to remove these to allow the main carpet to breathe. Store these somewhere where they will keep dry, or dry out if necessary. If there was any damp inside the car at all this can creep up into the carpet that covers the gearbox and transmission tunnel or the carpet under the seats. Install a mini dehumidifier which will dry the car interior out slowly over a couple of weeks. These are not expensive - about £30 each and I have used them for over 15 years. They only consume about 40w so don't cost much money to leave running continuously. They extract water and fill up a small tank which needs emptying when the light changes from green to red. Keep running the dehumidifier until no more water appears in the tank. Store the car with the windows wound up otherwise the dehumidifier will be extracting moisture permanently as the air circulates round the car. More importantly keeping the windows closed will stop your local rodents from deciding to make their winter home inside the car and chewing up the carpet and seats. If you have the luxury of keeping your car stored in a Carcoon or an AirChamber then as long as the fans on this are kept running they will dry out the car both inside and out so an in car de-humidifier is not needed. We keep one of our cars in an AirChamber which works extremely well. Check all under bonnet fluid levels: coolant - top up with antifreeze rather than water; oil; brake and clutch fluids and the battery electrolyte level. Connect a trickle charger to the battery to keep it topped up. I prefer the ones that show a red LED while charging and a green LED when fully charged so the charge state can be seen at a glance. There are some premium priced chargers on the market for over £70 but I have normally bought suitable ones in the £20 to £30 price range which have worked perfectly. Some of these come with extra leads, with an inline plug, which can be fitted to the car so the charger can just be plugged in. I have fitted one of these to our MGB to save me having to lift the panel over the batteries to get to them. Alternatively connect the cigarette lighter direct to a live feed, not switched through the ignition, connect a cigarette plug to the charger and then it can just be plugged into the cigarette lighter. Pump up tyres to a couple of PSI above the normal pressure to allow for any loss over the winter. Do not use the handbrake in case it sticks on. If your car is convertible, keep the soft-top raised and taut to keep it dry and free from mould. If you have chrome wire wheels, clean them and give them a liberal coating of WD40. This can be cleaned off in the spring. It is a good idea to start the car at least once a month during the winter and run it fully up to operating temperature. If possible, and salt hasn't been used on the roads for a while, then take it for a short run. If this is not practical then at least drive it back and forth out of the garage to make sure the clutch works, none of the brakes have stuck on and at least get some of the oil and grease doing their jobs on moving parts. Also try all switches to make sure they work. Switch contacts can oxidise internally if not used and just switching them on and off will help prevent this. They can come from a rock thrown up from a truck on the highway, or its as easy as a parking lot ding from someone in a hurry or even an errant grocery cart. Most of these are unavoidable. They can happen even if you park far away from stores and regardless of the measures you take to protect your car. Not only do they detract from your cars beauty, but they can also make your car susceptible to rust and the environment. Here's how to fix these paint chips, nicks and deep scratches and protect your car from rust. Its not worth going to a auto paint and body store for chips and scratches. They will charge 10 times more for repairs you can easily do yourself. The first step is to locate the chips and scratches and see how deep they are. If they don't go all the way through the paint you can buff them out. Using a cloth terry towel apply a small amount of scratch remover or cleaner wax. Rub in a circular motion over the chip or scratch and buff when dry. If this removes the chip or scratch after a couple of applications, great, then just follow with a good wax or polish. If you see white primer or metal in the nick or scratch scratch remover or cleaner wax will not work well. Some cars have paint that is lacquer based and others have paint that is enamel based. The following tip works wonders on cars with lacquer based paint only. Get a clean rag and apply a small amount of lacquer thinner to it. Take this and rub lightly on and around the scratch, nick or chip. The lacquer thinner will actually start to move the paint around and cover the affected spot. This even works on larger scrapes. This treatment is not recommended on cars with custom paint jobs and may not work on all cars with lacquer based paints. For those with enamel paint or scratches and chips where the above treatment didn't work, then you have to touch up the blemish in your paint. First, you need to get the paint code so you can correctly match the paint for your car. This is located inside your door jam or on some Hondas inside the glove box. Take this paint code to your dealer and get a small bottle of touch up paint. The touch up paint will come in a small bottle with a brush applicator. Instead of using the brush, as it will apply too broadly and make your touch up of the chip or scratch really stand out, we recommend using a toothpick for better paint placement. First clean the area of the chip or scratch. Then follow the directions on the touch up paint bottle. Usually it is mix thoroughly for 5 minutes (metallic paints may require more agitation). Then using the toothpick place the paint directly in the chip or scratch. When done allow to dry for several days before waxing or polishing (some cars have a clear cote which you would then apply in the same fashion to the affected area). By touching up the paint you have sealed the area from the environment and greatly reduced the chances of rust setting in and affecting your sheet metal. Rust is like cancer for your car and very difficult to stop once it starts, so it is better to be proactive and prevent it with proper car care and treatment and quickly identifying and repairing paint chips, nicks and scratches. Consequently, in late 1988, and as a natural evolution, the successor was introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show as a 2+2 coupe, and designated the Aston Martin Virage sports car. It was positioned as the company's premier and exclusive model, and the timing of the launch coincided with the acquisition of the company by Ford of the US. In terms of styling, it's sleek lines, which produced a drag coefficient of just 0.34, resembled that of a Lagonda rather than the classic lines of the V8 Series. It was fitted with spoilers both front and rear, and stylish flush headlights. The influence of Ford was noticeable in the fact that, as a cost-cutting measure, a number of the car's' components were sourced from a wide range of companies, including the Parent. Although it used aluminium body panels, it was still a heavy car with a curb weight of 1790 kg. When production ended in 1995, Aston Martin had built a total of 365 Virage sports cars. THE ENGINE The Virage was powered by a front-engined, all aluminium, 5.3 litre, 32 valve, DOHC, V8 unit with the head modified by Callaway Engineering in the US, and incorporated a modified intake manifold and Weber-Marelli fuel injection. This developed 330 bhp at 5300 rpm, and 350 ft/lbs of torque at 4000 rpm. Fitted with a ZF five speed manual gearbox and using a 9.5:1 compression, it produced a top speed of 158 mph, with 0-60 mph in 6.5 secs. Interestingly, the majority of customers preferred the optional Chrysler three-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission. Towards the end of production, an optional six speed manual gearbox from the Vantage sports car was offered. In January 1992, as part of a programme of improvements, existing customers were able to replace the original 5.3 litre engine with a 6.3 litre V8 unit that had been incorporated in the Aston Martin AMR1, a Group C sports car racer that was entered in the 1989 Le Mans 24 Hours race. The new engine developed 500 bhp at 6000 rpm, and 480 ft/lbs of torque at 5800 revs, which gave the car a top speed of 175 mph. The conversion included fitting larger vented disc brakes, 18 inch wheels, air dams and side air vents. Usually, the system that fails is the clutch and its failure to release. Clutch release failure is when the vehicle or car has a faulty release system. This could be caused by many reasons. Clutches that do not release properly after you've pushed it causes a continuous turn on the shaft that it is controlling. This is what causes the driver to struggle when changing gears. This could prevent the driver of the car to struggle when trying to engage the neutral gear. A burnt out clutch is one of the most common reasons why your clutch could fail. Avoiding a burnt out clutch is a tricky task. A person who owns a manual car has to constantly apply the clutch when changing gears. To limit the amount of damage that is done to the clutch you have to perform proper gear changing techniques. Newer drivers will obviously find this harder to do as they are still learning how to keep the car from rolling. Experienced drivers will find that the clutch will last longer because they use it at the correct time. Poor disengagement performance is another reason why your clutch has release failures. This can also cause the clutch to burn out. When driving, you need to smoothly change gears without releasing the clutch prematurely. The clutch only needs to be applied when you are going to come to a complete stop or if you are engine braking or need to gear down. Other causes for clutch release failure include damaged release cables, damaged straps, defective clutch cylinders, worn out fork or a worn out pivot ball, damaged spline, or damaged clutch plates. Another cause for clutch release failure could be that the system was incorrectly installed. So it's very important to have the clutch repairs done by a technician that knows what they're doing. Furthermore, any new clutch system should be installed by a professional to avoid the need for a replacement prematurely. Keeping the system running smoothly also requires your input. Driving the car correctly is necessary to avoid mechanical damage, accidents as well as uncomfortable driving. Sometimes, these problems might not be detected as a clutch release failure. Like the 355 Spider, the soft top was electrically actuated, and automatically folded away into a space in front of the engine compartment, which was displayed beneath a glass cover. The two-stage operation was very quick, in the order of some 20 seconds and, even when folded down, did not in any way obscure the view of the engine. Like its predecessors, the F430 Series, including the Spider, was designed by Pininfarina. It was fitted with much larger air intakes at the rear to ensure maximum cooling of the new engine, due to the proximity of the folded down top. There were two air intakes at the front of the car which fed into a spoiler, positioned underneath the front bumper, which acted to channel air beneath the car. This helped to increase the ground effect, which was further improved by the presence of a large diffuser fitted to the rear, coupled with the fact that the underside of the car was completely flat. A new added feature was called the E-Diff and was, in fact, a limited slip differential that was computer activated to provide maximum grip when cornering, and so preventing wheel spin. A further addition was the Manettino switch, situated on the steering wheel, which allowed the driver to select a computer controlled function, according to road conditions, such as traction control via E-Diff, suspension, gear change speed, and throttle response. Ceramic composite disc brakes, with superior anti-fade characteristics, were available as an option, and the F1-style paddle shift gearbox was also offered. The F430 Spider shared the same interior as that of the Berlinetta. THE ENGINE The F430 Spider was powered by the new 4.3 litre, V8 engine, with four valves per cylinder, unlike the five cylinder layout in the 360 Series. This larger engine developed 483 bhp at 8500 rpm (the redline), and 344 ft/lbs of torque at 5250 rpm. Compare with the coupe, this enabled the Spider to produce a top speed of 193 mph (3 mph slower), and a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 secs (2 secs longer). COMPETITION Competitors of the Ferrari F430 Spider sports car included the following: Lamborghini Gallardo Spider, Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, and Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster. Ferrari performance: SPORTS CARS FOR SALE Originally priced at $200,000, a Ferrari F430 Spider in good condition would fetch around $100,000, whilst an example in excellent condition could command anything up to $150,000.
