All the while, new companies claiming to have "miracle" products, such as fuel and engine additives, are fooling the public into believing these merchandises actually work. All this does is trick consumers into spending even more money on a product that has little or no effect toward fuel consumption and conservation. Continue reading to learn the truth behind improving fuel mileage and consumption for your car or truck. Improving Gas Mileage on Your Own There are several things a driver can do to increase the miles they get per gallon. Changing up driving habits is the first place to start. Using slower speeds on the interstate, avoiding full-throttle accelerations, using steady speeds, and more, are all effective methods to improving your gas mileage. The first place to start, as mentioned before, is to change your driving habits in general. This includes the following: Use Slower Speeds Empty the Trunk Space Reduce Excess Weight Inside the Vehicle Avoid Extended Idling Combine Errands and Trips Drive Smoothly Avoid High-Cruising Speeds on the Interstate Slowing down in general uses less fuel. If you exceed speed limits regularly, or accelerate quickly from a standstill, it will rapidly use up the fuel in a car or truck. This is the same for highway cruising speeds. It helps to slow down to the lawful speed limit on interstates for safety; but it can also minimize daily fuel consumption. Removing excess weight from the back seat and trunk can reduce the overall weight of a vehicle, which allows it to use less fuel to operate. Idling uses a great deal of gas as well. Try to avoid situations that require a vehicle to run while not in drive mode. If stuck in traffic jams, turn the engine off to avoid overheating and massive fuel consumption. And last, syndicating errands and trips can reduce mileage in general, which in return, reduces the amount of fuel needed for each day. Routine Vehicle Maintenance On top of driving habits, careful vehicle maintenance is important to consider when it comes to saving fuel and improving gas mileage. For example, it is vital to use the proper engine oil for a vehicle. The degree of viscosity must be appropriate for the type of engine in a car. If a driver uses higher viscosity oil than required, it will create more drag on the internal engine components. Some mechanics will recommend using more viscous oil as a vehicle ages, but this is false. It will cause the engine to work harder, especially in cold weather, and constantly reduces gas mileage with every drive. Other areas to improve or properly maintain include: Tire Pressure Spark Plugs Fuel Grade Air Filters Check Engine Lights Carbon Removal Clean Air Induction System Call Northeast Auto at 317-475-1846 for quality automotive service in Indianapolis, Indiana. THE JEEP JK

Home » Automotive » Car Detailing Customization Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Custom Search Search Ben SK Basic PLUS Author | 3 Articles Joined: February 12, 2016 India Everything You Need to Know About a Jeep JK By Ben SK | Submitted On August 21, 2017 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article If you are enthusiastic about Jeeps love reading up about them, you might have often wondered what 'JK' stands for. Simply put, JK is a code that internationally famous brand Jeep uses to identify some of its vehicles. Why the Code 'JK'? The code 'JK' has not been just assigned by Jeep without any kind of thought. Jeep has been creating the best off-roading vehicles for a long time now, and their vast range of vehicles are not designed all the same. To help them, and more importantly their customer to identify their vehicles better in case they have a requirement for certain parts of the vehicle, the code 'JK' was assigned to all the vehicles that were manufactured between 2007-2017. The code is also backed up by the vehicle design specifications that Jeep have followed during the manufacture of their JK Wranglers. Most JK vehicles manufactured by Jeep look quite similar to each other in their original form. Of course, there might be differences between a regular JK Wrangler and a heavily customized one, but in essence and in shape, all JK Jeeps look alike. Advantages of the 'JK' Coding System Easier to Find Parts: Many other vehicle manufacturers often go with complicated coding systems that make it difficult to search for their parts in the market. It doesn't matter if you go to an established store in your neighborhood, or search online for the parts you need; what good is any of it if you cannot identify the parts that you really need? Four-wheeler details are quite intricate, and you can't really take a chance on parts that would not fit your Jeep, can you? Time Saver at Stores: When you go to a store that sells vehicle parts, you might often have to provide the storekeepers a ton of details before they exactly understand what you precisely need. However, with the JK coding system used by Jeep, it isn't any problem if you happen to own a Jeep JK model. Simply say 'JK', and the storekeeper can start helping you without wasting any more time. Helps to Distinguish from Other Product Ranges: The 'JK' coding system extends only, and only to the vehicles manufactured by Jeep between 2007 and 2017. The newest Wrangler models, slated to be released sometime in 2018, would be assigned the code 'JL'. So, this kind of coding system makes it easy to distinguish between the JK product range and previous and later ranges of vehicles. No Space for Confusion On first glance, you might not find the code 'JK' on the surface of the jeep. In fact, there is no mention of the code on the surface. All you probably might see is 'Polar Edition', 'Rubicon', and 'Wrangler'. While this might lead to some confusion, it really is quite simple. No matter what edition of a jeep you own, Rubicon or Wrangler, if it was made in the 2007-2017 period, it is a JK! AUTOMATIC CAR GEAR REPAIRS

Home » Automotive » Repairs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Custom Search Search Paresh Gordhan Basic PLUS Author | 13 Articles Joined: December 1, 2010 South Africa Dealing With Gear Issues on an Automatic Car By Paresh Gordhan | Submitted On August 14, 2017 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Paresh Gordhan The most luxurious cars in the world are automatic cars with stunning finishes. Unfortunately, the best cars also gain problems over time and it should be taken seriously. Gear Issues are problems that are associated with the gearbox. Sometimes your car will leak fluid from the transmission. This might be one of the serious problems because if it doesn't get sorted out you could have a problem shifting gears. Irregular shifting could destroy the gearbox because the incorrect gear could be engaged during the wrong speed. For example, if you are driving fast on a highway and your car changes to the first gear, you could break the teeth because it cannot handle that speed. The first gear is always bigger in diameter because of the force required to do the initial movement. The transmission can also experience oil leakage. This fluid looks red. It comes from the filler tube base that is located between the engine and transmission, the drain hole, the selector shaft, or the radiator. No oil leakage is good as it means that there is a hole somewhere allowing air to move into the car. Oil is also the source of lubrication inside the engine and keeps the mechanisms cool. The filter could get clogged at any time. The filter inside the car keeps the oil clean keeping any dust or particles out of the engine. Oil supplies the car with lubrication so that there is no friction. Friction is what causes overheating and worn out parts. If you are experiencing delayed shifting and oil leaking it is likely that the filter has been clogged. This filter also keeps the dust away from the gearbox whilst it shifts. If you experience delayed shifting it could mean that there is something blocking the system from making smooth motions. Shifting gears incorrectly can be easily felt. It often sounds like the engine is groaning if it has gone up one gear too many. This will lead to a slow pulling motion which will not allow the car to move faster until it regains its speed again. Automatic cars are tougher to fix when it comes to gearbox problems because these cars don't have a manual clutch. However, this doesn't mean that it is impossible but never repair your car on your own if you are not sure what to do.
