Carla Ballatan | Submitted On March 25, 2005 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Are you a proud owner of a Moto Guzzi 'Jackal'? Well, then you are likely to be an envy of many. But if you missed out on the benefits of a tachometer, you might just go by the sound and feel of the engine whether or not it was happy with the revs you are using during changing up or down the box. We can forgive you if you are clueless as to what those revs actually were. Used motorcycle parts like a tachometer could really be a beneficial thing to improve the general condition of your Moto Guzzi motorcycle. However, new or second-hand Cali EV dash is not that easy to get hold of. Given this difficulty, you could produce a new dashboard for yourself. You could even produce a better dashboard than the original Jackal item. Itching to start already? First, you must get a bit of 4mm thick 1050-H14 aluminium (BS 1470), (99.5% pure aluminum, a bit of wet & dry sandpaper, a couple of drills and a counter sinker for the warning light cluster / mounting screw holes. If you decide to do the cutting yourself, you need basic hand tools, drill, hole cutter for 85mm diameter holes, a small band saw few files and a couple of medium / fine flap wheels for finishing off the edges and for doing the brushed satin finish. Water Jet Cutting, Plasma Cutting, Laser Cutting, CNC Milling are several ways of manufacturing the aluminum. You can choose any method feasible for you and that which will create smooth results for your dash.. Here are the steps in cutting out your dash from http://www.webbikeworld.com/Moto-Guzzi-motorcycles/dashboard-tachometer/: 1. Mark out the plate, including profile and hole centres 2. Centre-pop all of the hole centres 3. Centre-pop the holes using sharp centre-pop. A light tap should do it. 4. Pilot drill each hole centre using something like a 1/16th drill 5. Cut the 85mm holes 6. Use the trepanner / tank cutter or an 85mm hole saw. 7. Drill the warning light and mounting holes. De-burr. 8. Finish off the warning light holes using a bit of wet & dry for a clean edge to the holes. For the underside of the dash: 1. Cut out the profile using a hacksaw / bandsaw / plasma cutter 2. Smooth off and finish off the edges 3. Use file, wet & dry, wire wool, flap wheel to remove cutting marks 4. Bend the 'mounting lugs' to the correct angle using the original dash as a pattern 5. To surface finish, hold the drill with both hands and ran the flap wheel down the dash in one smooth, even stroke, starting at one side. Finish-off by getting some Methylated spirit and de-grease the dash, taking care not to leave any finger marks. Then, spray with a few coats of acrylic lacquer. For fitting and connections, the speedo cable fits fine. The article "Install a rev counter on your motorcycle" at http://www.articlecity.com/articles/auto_and_trucks/article_195.shtml may help you with the wiring and the fitting of the dash. You'll find it complicating but once you've finished, you'll be even prouder of having your Moto Guzzi motorcycle with its new dashboard! Lala C. HOW TO MAINTAIN HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

Home » Automotive » Repairs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Custom Search Search Jovia D'Souza Basic PLUS Author | 1,405 Articles Joined: February 17, 2014 India Tips To Maintain Your Hydraulic System By Jovia D'Souza | Submitted On February 11, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Hydraulic systems might seem complicated, but they are not as bad as many people think. Regular maintenance practices can get you familiar with the components so that you are able to diagnose potential issues before they graduate into serious problems. Hydraulic system components work closely together and one damaged component can therefore lead to damages in others. The systems usually have hoses, lines, motors, cylinders and pumps as well as filters and valves among others. The larger components like the pumps and cylinders and motors are interconnected by fittings, line and hoses. Learning simple maintenance practices can go a long way in keeping your system in top shape. Preventative tips Prevention of issues is the best approach with any system. Start by ensuring that contaminants are kept out of the system to keep failures and common problems at bay. In case you suspect contamination, then you can take other measures. · Clean out the area on dip sticks and fill hydraulic filters and plugs before removing to check or change the fluid. Pour hydraulic fluid directly into your system and keep all fluid containers sealed tightly when storing. · Consider changing the filter and fluid after first 50 hours of use to get rid of any contaminant particles. You can check your manual for manufacturer recommendations. · Always check the oil before every use to verify good condition and to get adequate fluid levels. Milky or foamy oil could indicate a leak which can slow hydraulics operations. Seal the leak immediately. · Check the hydraulic fluid temperature regularly during operation. Hot or smelly fluid could be an indication that the cooling system is not working as it should. Any debris or dirt should be removed from the oil cooler or the reservoir. Pump tips Inspect the pump for external damage and wear on a regular basis and have any issues taken care off as soon as possible. Apart from this you should remain keen on cavitation every 50 hours and here is how you can do this. · Listen to your pump when operating hydraulic. Any sounds or rattles could mean cavitation is occurring and you need to shut the system down immediately. · Check filter and fluid level for any restricted or limited flow. You should also check for any component alterations on the pump, inlet lines and reservoir that could affect the inlet flow of the pump. · Check the inlet lines for any pinching, bends or leaks and other discontinuities that could interfere with the flow. · Keep the filter and fluid clean to keep piston, vanes, valves and gear damages minimal. Other helpful tips · Inspect all fittings, couplers, lines and hoses for damages. Collapsed or crimped hoses could restrict flow and so will cracked, dented or cut lines. · Ensure all hose fittings remains snug and tighten them where necessary without over-tightening that could result in damages. · Let your couplings remain clean because they easily lead to contamination. Caps should remain in place when replacements are being done. · Check the flex points of the hoses for any stretching and kinking. The hose routing should also be checked for any irregularities that could bring interference with how they function. How you handle your hydraulic system can determine its effectiveness in operation. Sometimes it is better to get custom fittings to get better results with every operation you run and to keep problems at bay. #LAMBORGHINI URUS

Home » Automotive » SUVs Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Custom Search Search Zachary J Taylor Basic PLUS Author | 12 Articles Joined: June 5, 2013 United States Lamborghini's Urus Receives the Final Nod! By Zachary J Taylor | Submitted On June 06, 2013 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Remember when we brought the sad news to your notice that the amazing Urus SUV Concept that Lamborghini had revealed some time back was not receiving the green light for production for some months? Well, we have some good news for you! Lamborghini has reportedly confirmed that the gorgeous SUV will be out in the markets by the year 2017. We had earlier reported that although the company had revealed the SUV Concept long back, it will not be giving the final nod for production for a few months. However, the company carried out crucial developments in the positive direction. But now the time has come, and the company has taken the important decisions. Lamborghini will most probably be producing the SUV! Interesting to note that the Urus will be the first SUV that Lamborghini will be producing since the 1980s! All the automobile fanatics here might have heard about Evo. The editorial director of the company, Mr Harry Metcalfe attended the celebrations that Lamborghini held up for the anniversary of unveiling the amazing Egoista Concept Supercar. Metcalfe later tweeted with a hashtag that the production of the Urus is confirmed - "Lamborghini confirms Urus SUV for 2017 production at tonight's #Lambo50 gala dinner." Besides this very strong indication, some other incidences of the recent past months also suggest that the SUV is on its way. The company filed some patents in China in the month of February. Also, the CEO of Audi, Mr Rupert Stadler has stated that "Lamborghini has to do it. Because of the need to dovetail into production cycles, we should see the Urus in 2017." The fact that Audi is the owner of Lamborghini makes Mr Stadler's statements a really strong indication! The SUV is just in its initial stage currently, and needs a lot of development before it can be ready to hit the streets. The production plants will also take some time to get adjusted to as Mr Stadler mentioned. The Urus will have to be adjusted in the timetables as it will be sharing the MQB platform with Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. Speaking of the amazing SUV, the #Lamborghini Urus sports a gorgeous carbon fibre - rich body, making it much lighter than other SUVs. SUVs coming from the same brand like the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg are more than 100 kilograms heavier than the Urus! Also, the beast will feature an all-wheel drive system. Under the hood you'll be blessed with a beautiful 4000cc V8 engine. Coupled with a hybridising system which uses an electric motor to send torques to the wheels, the Urus will definitely be the one of its kind. The engine will produce a power output of 600 horsepower with the help of the electric hybridisation. Since the Urus is lighter than other SUVs, this power output will really make it a very fast and agile vehicle. Expect to see the Urus hitting the markets in 2017. However, a demo model might be prepared by the late 2016 only! Zachary Taylor is a contributing automobile writer for Reviewitonline.net.
